This in from the wife of the Bishop who woke me up about 17 years ago:

I don’t know if I told you this, but my sister, who lives in NW Idaho, told me that a few years ago the Sandpoint stake and Coeur d’ Alene stakes were told to be prepared to help others who would come from the west coast. The members in those two stakes were asked to store things for these people who would be refugees needing help. Recently I asked my sister to remind me of the details. I’m going to check something I’ve got stored on my computer and then get back to you with a little more info. Oh, and the visiting authorities who, at separate times, presented this to the stakes were Elders Eyring and Uchtdorf. This happened within the past few years.

Here are my sister’s words: “Both at Saturday evening sessions. Eyering at Coeur d Alene stake and Uchtdorf at Standpoint stake. They said those areas are to be places of refuge and gathering and to plan accordingly. At a meeting the stake presidents attended with the regional authority they were told to anticipate about 800 people per stake to come as refugees from the coast. This was told to us by someone who was at the meetings while at the cannery.”

The scary part is that her Stake currently has no Preparedness Specialist – no plan in place……  Sad.

I made friends in Sandpoint with one of the Elders in one of the wards (he is a converted descendant of  Joseph Smith), and he saw in vision his entire place (20 acres) covered with the tents of refugees from the West Coast.  They have prepped to the 9’s – an amazing place.  He became so disenchanted with the ambivalence of the local leadership, that he has kind of done a Denver Snuffer…..  I hope he sticks with it enough to be a useful tool in the Lord’s hands.
