For the first time in the history of this 7 and a half year-old blog and almost 3 year-old podcast, I need to ask for your help.

First, some background:

The LDS Perfect Day blog has existed since Feb 5, 2012 and it’s podcast since Nov. 20, 2016. The blog (which the verbatim podcast is based on) contains this disclaimer: “© 2019 The Perfect Day. All Rights Reserved. You may copy, transmit and use any content posted by The Perfect Day for private, non-commercial, non-public purposes, or for personal research. Otherwise, please ask permission first.”

It has recently come to my attention that another podcast, “Come Follow Me,” directly quotes, without attribution to me, my blog posts/podcasts which I produced months or years in advance. These podcasts are located on five different podcast sites.

You can click here for a side-by-side comparison of a transcript from his podcast beside my original work. As anyone can plainly see, there is no way the “Come Follow Me” author could have independently composed the same words, the same phrases, the same commentaries, the same scriptures in the same sequences, even with the same confidential testimonials, which I used.

The intentional plagiarism of my work (his using The Perfect Day blog and podcast content without permission nor attribution, in clear violation of my publicly-stated wishes) could technically be considered intellectual theft, because it misleads people into thinking the concepts which I originally articulated are his, which is deceptive. “Thou shalt not steal” is still one of the 10 commandments. How much credibility do you place in a podcaster who steals content and passes it off as his own?

The author’s email address listed on one of his podcast sites is comefollowmelesson@gmail.com. His Twitter link, also listed on the same page, takes you to a page owned by “Jacob Kay.”

I have reached out to this author via his email, and received no response.

So, we come to the part where I need your help.

Within the next day or two, please email comefollowmelesson@gmail.com or even call Jacob Kay if you know him. Please join me in encouraging him to do the right thing by deleting the plagiarized content and finding his own voice to testify of Jesus, instead of falsely claiming mine. Feel free to CC or BCC me — and encourage him to respond to my email — at ldsperfectday@gmail.com.

If you hear back from him, or have any more ideas to reach out to him, please let me know.

I will resume this blog and podcast with the content I would have posted today…hopefully as soon as this situation is resolved.

Thanks in advance for your help.
